Description/Duties

Civil Justice, Inc. (CJ) is a Maryland legal services non-profit implementing innovative technology solutions to improve access to justice. Our two current platforms, the Maryland Justice Passport and Coordinated Intake for Access to Counsel in Evictions, are award-winning technology solutions transforming the way Marylanders find legal assistance. We are seeking a talented developer to assist us in building and maintaining database applications that use new technologies including Stacker, Airtable, and Zapier. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, customizing, and maintaining web applications using the Stacker platform, managing and optimizing data using Airtable, and leveraging Zapier to integrate with RESTful APIs. You will work closely with our program teams to understand their needs and translate them into functional and user-friendly applications. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Stacker, Airtable, and Zapier, particularly for integrating with RESTful APIs, as well as the ability to work with different data sources, connect with external services, and streamline processes. This is a fully remote, full-time position with terrific growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and customize web applications using the Stacker platform and Airtable.

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand requirements for application development

Configure and optimize Stacker/Airtable applications to meet specific business needs.

Integrate data sources and external services with Airtable using RESTful APIs through Zapier.

Manage and organize data in Airtable, ensuring data accuracy, security, and efficiency.

Automate workflows and processes using Zapier, particularly for RESTful API integration.

Test and troubleshoot applications, data structures, and automated workflows to ensure functionality and performance.

Provide ongoing support and maintenance for Stacker applications, Airtable databases, and Zapier integrations.

Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of access to justice technology trends and emerging software that may improve or inform the future of our platforms.

Skills/Qualifications

Proven experience with the Stacker and Airtable platforms, including application development and customization preferred. o Applicants with experience with other comparable platforms will be considered.

Strong understanding of web application development principles and best practices.

Experience writing complex scripts in JavaScript, as well as front end languages like HTML and CSS.

Familiarity with various data sources, RESTful APIs, and integration methods.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving application issues.

Experience in creating and managing workflows with Zapier, particularly for RESTful API integration.

Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Prior experience in software development or a related field is a plus.

Ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically across teams and organizations.

Ability to think as a visionary, with the attention to detail necessary to implement that vision.

A commitment to the use of technology initiatives to transform how citizens access justice.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant work experience and demonstrable skills with Stacker, Airtable, Zapier (with a focus on RESTful API integration) can be a suitable substitute. A year or more of development experience is desired but, for the right candidate, this could be an entry level position.

Compensation

The salary for this position is $72,800 annually.

Location: CJ is fully remote. Work locations outside of the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area will be considered.

Schedule: CJ offers a 35-hour work week. Flexible scheduling will be considered.
