MCVRC seeks a highly skilled, innovative visionary professional to provide legal representation, advocacy and support services to Maryland crime victims and victim representatives.

Primary Duties and Essential Functions

  • Supervise, support and mentor assigned staff attorneys to ensure all clients receive comprehensive and individualized services.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Legal Services to create an effective legal team in Baltimore that works collaboratively with the MCVRC team,
  • May serve as back-up to Director/Supervisor, as needed; For example, while Director/Supervisor is on vacation or takes leave.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to crime victims and victim representatives throughout all phases of criminal prosecutions.
  • Respond to requests for legal assistance.
  • Collaborates with MCVRC Victim Services and Legal teams to address the legal, advocacy and support needs of each client.
  • Develop cases, including interviewing victims, researching relevant case law and codes, drafting, and preparing various legal documents and making oral arguments on a client’s behalf.
  • Assists in maintaining a case management system by ensuring accurate record keeping and data entry of client cases and files.
  • Assists with grant reporting by ensuring accuracy of data.
  • Provide and attend necessary staff development and training.
  • Conducts and participates in community outreach activities.
  • Represent MCVRC at local, state, and national conferences, seminars, and events, making presentations as needed.
  • Supports agency mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Law Degree and Maryland bar membership required
  • 5-years’ experience with victim services and victims’ rights preferred
  • Attorney Supervisory experience minimum of 5 years
  • Legislation and advocacy experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs required
  • Bi-Lingual, English and Spanish a plus

Compensation

Job Type – Full-Time

Salary – $103,597

Benefits – 401k, Insurance: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, +

Schedule – Monday – Friday; Some remote work available after training
